Medical travel attracts a lot of noise. Here is exactly who we are, how we work with Chinese hospitals, how we are paid, and the things we refuse to do.
Prima Med China is a medical coordination service — not a hospital, not a clinic, and not a broker who disappears after the invoice. We work with large public Grade IIIA hospitals in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu, and we handle the things those hospitals were never designed to do for foreign patients: English, appointments that fit your travel dates, translated documents, transparent written pricing, and a named person standing next to you on the day.
Most international patients discover that China's top hospitals are technically superb and practically hard to access. Our whole job is that second half. You get the standard department's medicine at the government price list — with the language and logistics barriers removed.
We do not diagnose, prescribe, operate or provide any form of medical treatment, and we do not employ the doctors who treat you. The hospital and your treating physician are responsible for your clinical care. We are responsible for finding the right hospital and specialist for your case, arranging the appointments, interpreting and translating, and keeping the logistics out of your way. If a service you find elsewhere implies otherwise, treat that as a warning sign.
The second column matters more than the first. It is how you tell a coordination service from a sales operation.
Same hospital, same surgeons, same equipment — the price difference is enormous, and we close the gap that keeps foreign patients out.
We coordinate care at China's highest-tier public hospitals and specialist centres — the institutions that treat the largest volumes of complex cases in the country. Every recommendation comes with the hospital's tier, the department, and the surgeon's title and sub-specialty.
Chinese public hospitals publish government-set prices. Their international wings charge 3–10× more for the same operation in more comfortable surroundings. Unless you ask for a private wing, we book the standard department — and show you the official price list behind your quote.
Standard departments have no English service and issue documents only in Chinese. That is precisely what we provide: interpreting, translation, appointment navigation, payment help and a person on site — so an excellent hospital becomes an accessible one.
You are never passed between anonymous departments. One person owns your case from the first message to your flight home.
Your single point of contact. Collects your records, presents your case to specialists, turns their opinion into a plain-English plan and a written quote, and answers within 24 hours.
Books appointments, scan slots and surgical dates inside the hospital's own systems, secures the invitation letter, and resolves registration and payment questions at the counter.
Sits in on every consultation, admission, consent discussion and discharge. Trained in clinical vocabulary so that "the margins are clear" means the same thing in both languages.
Airport transfers, accommodation near the hospital, SIM and payment setup, companion arrangements, and flexible re-booking if your dates shift.
Sends your translated documents, relays follow-up questions to the treating surgeon, and arranges telemedicine reviews after you are home.
Your records are shared with a hospital only on your instruction, kept only as long as necessary, and deleted on request — as set out in our Privacy Policy.
We do not publish photographs of our coordinators, and we do not use stock portraits to imply a team. Before you commit, we introduce your named coordinator by name and contact details, and you can speak to them directly on WeChat, WhatsApp or email.
Billed by the hospital from its own published price list and paid by you, in the hospital's name, at the hospital's cashier or by bank transfer. The same list is on display on site, so you can check every line. We add nothing to it — we take no commission, rebate or referral payment from any hospital, so nothing in the chain rewards a bigger bill.
A fixed, agreed fee for what we actually do: bilingual medical interpreting at every consultation and on admission, written translation of your records and reports, a coordinator present on appointment days, appointment and scan scheduling, the hospital invitation letter, and itinerary and logistics. It is stated in your written quote before you commit, and it is never a percentage of your medical costs — a $500 bill and a $50,000 bill attract the same fee.
Beijing's public Grade IIIA hospitals bill from a government-set price list that applies to everyone. We do not negotiate it upwards and we take no cut of it. Our only income is the service fee on your quote — which means we have no financial reason to recommend a bigger operation, a costlier implant or a longer stay than you actually need.
